Brooks Cherries
Description: Second leading commercially-grown
variety. Bigger than some other varieties, sweet,
firm, juicy and rich. These are sweeter and larger
than some others. The cherry flesh is firm and
crisp with variable shades of red and pink. These
are the first to become ripe and ready for us
to enjoy just before summer so these are the first
delectable jewels to become available.
Recommendation: Early to ripen, Brooks cherries
are an excellent way to begin the cherry season.
Brooks cherries are a perfect, early foodservice
choice for fresh use.

Tulare Cherries
Description: Bright Red in color with a pink to
red flesh. Fruit shape is oblong and symmetrical.
Very juicy and sweet. Skin color at picking maturity
is red and flesh color is pink to red. Ripens
evenly and texture is firm and juicy. Fruit has
exceptional shipping and storage characteristics.
Flavor is sweet and mildly acid. Ripens 3 days
after Brooks and 7 days ahead of Bing.
Recommendation: Excellent for Retail and Club

Bing Cherries
Description: Predominant variety grown commercially.
Large size, plump round shape, deep mahogany color
with rich, sweet flavor. The rich color carries
through inside the cherry. The Bing has an intensely
sweet, vibrant flavor. The Bing has become the
standard by which other varieties are compared
and are the most common cherries on the market.
Bings ripen in mid- to late-June.
Recommendation: Hearty, sweet and flavoful,
the Bing cherry is an excellent foodservice
choice for fresh use. Great choice for export.

Rainier Cherries
Description: They are large with a golden color
with a pink or red blush. Very sweet, delicate
flavor (20-25% fruit sugar) finely textured. The
Rainier cherry, is a Bing and Van hybrid. They
are a soft yellow color inside and are sweet but
not as sweet as the red varieties. Firm, clear
to light yellow flesh. Fine-textured and distinct
flavor. Ripens mid-season. These are considered
by many to be THE best cherry!
Recommendation: They are distinctive and superior
in appearance and taste, making them a premium
niche sweet cherry.

Chelan
Description: An early ripening sweet cherry for
California Cherry growers. This fruit ripens two
weeks ahead of Bing, yet the fruit resembles Bing
with it’s firm, round, heart shaped fruit
of good size. This variety is highly resistant
to cracking during late maturity stages. Fruit
ships well and has 16-18% sugar generally.
Recommendation: They are a hearty cherry, ready
in the beginning of the season. The Chelan is
great way to generate interest early to establish
your cherry sales for the year. Also, the Chelan
is an excellent option for shipping.
